Reimagining a website design for Santa Monica’s iconic BroadStage

Designed for Shiffman & Kohnke with Tracey Shiffman, Alex Kohnke and James Ihira.

I had the pleasure of working under the creative direction of Tracey Shiffman at Shiffman & Kohnke during the final stages of a rebranding project for The BroadStage. I was tasked with designing an accessible website using the new brand identity developed by the talented team at S&K.

In this project, I used Figma to plan, design, and prototype a website functional across devices. Prototyping our design allowed us to communicate our design to the development team and other project stakeholders.

About the project

We used brand colors on the photography that comes to life in full color upon interaction.

The solution

Using visual language from the new brand identity, we leveraged the square throughout the website design. This both creates a stage for the imagery and organizes the content in modular blocks. We viewed this language as creating a virtual stage for the variety of content the venue would feature.

Results

Through the power of prototyping we were able to translate this new brand identity into a design that could be passed off seamlessly to developers while retaining the spirit of the identity.
