Harmonizing a smart home ecosystem with the power of wearable technology

Relm

This project gave me the opportunity to focus on user experience design. In developing the app, I knew that Relm would need a library of icons showing its variety of functions. I created Relm’s icon system with a 32-pixel grid and standardized rules for corner treatment.

About the project

The Relm logo, also known as the “Relm Crown,” functions as both an icon and a data visualization system within the user interfaces. A user can track their biodata at different points throughout the day on their wearable or mobile device.

The Relm app has a user's world at their fingertips, from smart home settings to their own biodata recorded from a wearable device like a smart watch.

The solution

The core challenge of this project was to capture a new and complex idea as a brand identity. I aimed to convey the brand story in a way that did not water down the technology or the idea, but explained its complexity in a distilled manner. In my process as a designer I accomplished this through language, data visualization, and user interfaces.

The end result is a brand identity that is both descriptive and aspirational. Broken into easily digestible pieces, the brand story shows the audience how Relm can conform to their lives and fit their needs.
